As a junior, #75 started 7 games at left tackle, 4 games at center, and even 1 game at right tackle. Being put across the line from either the best or second best d-lineman on the opposition, Carey gave up zero sacks. As a soph, #65 averaged 2 pancakes and 5 chop blocks/ night in their solid 9W-3L state playoff run, and nearly 66% of all the Central Catholic rushes followed the lead blocking responsibilities of Carey on the season.
